Integrity & Impact

Stan Sandhu was born and raised in the blue-collar mining and forestry town of Quesnel, British Columbia. Stan learned from his immigrant parents the value of hard work and discipline at an early age.

While in school, he worked night shifts, all while studying and making time to play ice hockey. The role of sports has been invaluable in shaping Stan’s character and his values around leadership, team work, preparation and building positive daily habits.

Stan’s journey in North East Calgary began in high school when he moved to Calgary and enrolled at Lester B. Pearson. It was during that time that he met and fell in love with his wife, Roseleen Bhatti.

Stan completed a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science at the University of Calgary and went on to excel in senior positions as a Pricing Actuary for large corporations. His career success resulted from strong financial acumen and a natural ability to build trusted relationships. The intensive pressures of an Actuarial career path though led to a wake up call for Stan in 2012. He was struggling with anxiety and took a step back to assess how to attain true inner fulfillment.

Stan wanted to dedicate his life to making a positive impact, specifically for North East Calgary, the community that had given so much to him. So, in 2017, Stan left his corporate career and joined the Ward 5 office as Strategic Policy Advisor and became a voice for the community.
